PHO Dec 20, 2021 Update

Updated Jan 18, 2022: As advised by Gymnastics BC, viaSport and the interpretation therein after the Government of BC update, please note the following:

  • Gymnastics facilities can remain open for training activities

  • Sports tournaments are not allowed. Government defined sport tournaments/competitions as a single or multi-day gathering of three or more sport teams, who come together outside regular league play

    • The current interpretation of this rule is that no gymnastics competitions will be able to take place until the gathering and events order is modified (until at least February 16, 2022). Further clarifications, if and when received, will be communicated

  • Proof of full vaccination is required

    • for all individuals/spectators age 12+ accessing the facility for anything other than to participate in programs for youth. This includes judging courses, coaching courses, board meetings, etc. To clarify- there is no communication yet on participants under the age of 19 requiring proof of vaccination to participate in sport/training

    • by adult participants (19+) to participate in sport activities

    • for all individuals leading, supporting or assisting a sport activity (exemptions may apply). This means that all parents/guardians in parent assisted programming (e.g. parent and tot), must provide proof of full vaccination to club personnel

  • All individuals (age 5+) must wear masks in all indoor public spaces – except athletes who are in the field of play

  • 50% of the regular spectator capacity may be allowed

IN ADDITION,

  • Please consider to have your child/ren, especially aged 12 years and older, vaccinated for smooth functioning/attendance for competitions/events. Health Canada has approved the COVID-19 vaccine for younger children which can have a direct impact on our sport. The BC Vaccination process for children began on Nov 29, 2021 for children under 12 to get their first dose of vaccine. Parents of children in this age group can register for vaccination at the following link: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/children. The BC Government will be implementing an 8-week interval between the first and 2nd doses of COVID-19 vaccination for children ages 5-11.

  • Mock meets that are held within RGA, within the same training group, does not qualify as an ‘event’ since it is simply a regular training schedule with a competition like element in it.

  • TRAVEL: Parents/guardians must advise the coach/RGA office via an email if you plan to or have travelled overseas. With new guidelines related to non-essential international travel, please understand the following as it relates to you/your child accessing the facility:

    • Those who are not fully vaccinated and travel outside Canada must follow all federal testing and quarantine requirements. For athletes/participants, and other adults, this includes NOT accessing the gym for 14 DAYS following their return from international travel, regardless of the vaccination status, or who they travel with or if they receive a negative PCR test result. This applies to travel by land, air or sea, regardless of negative COVID test results. Please note travel rules and restrictions are subject to change. Regardless of vaccination status, it is the responsibility of parents, athletes and families to review the latest federal guidance. For the latest information, visit https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid

  • SELF ISOLATION - if tested positive for Covid-19 or have been in close contact with somebody who has tested positive with Covid-19 - please refer to BC Centre for Disease Control for the updated self isolation guidelines/timelines.
