Active Start (15 mths to 4 yrs)

Gymnastics is the ideal Active Start activity. By engaging in a structured program, children learn fundamental movement patterns, and develop the basics of physical literacy. This child-centered program works on gross and fine motor skills, strength, and flexibility while teaching balance and coordination.  Children also develop the ability to participate in a fun class setting while learning how to control their own movement in relation to equipment and others. In addition to improving overall mental and physical agility, kids develop confidence, independence and positive self esteem, which is important for the overall development of psychological and social skills.

The following programs comprise the Active Start program. Each class has a series of skill sets that the participant learns and accomplishes before moving onto the next. Coaches evaluate and work with the skill achieved to adequately challenge the budding athletes.

Coach to participant ratio: 1:6/8

This program opens for registration for the following semesters and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Fall: September to December Winter: January to March Spring: April to June Summer: July and August

All classes are co-ed unless specified otherwise.

Sow the seeds of active living and learning through play in the early years of life. Parent-engagement is required. Only one parent is allowed on the gym floor with the child.

Duration: 55 minutes
Age: 15 months to 2yr 11 mths (at program commencement)

Preschool (3-4 yrs)

Explorers of this age group join the class without parents/caregivers. Through play and direction while moving through set circuits, kids develop fundamental physical skills(e.g. running, jumping, swinging) and motor skills (e.g. balance, different types of locomotion), as well as some basic gymnastics-specific skills. With continued participation in class over semesters, they develop strength with age appropriate conditioning exercises. No parent engagement is required.
